Electronic Dance Music (EDM) has become a global art form and Georgia has become home to one of the world's largest festivals; ImagineFest. Every year tens of thousands of fans congregate just south of Atlanta to hear artists from all over the wold. But the event is more than just the music, it's a lifestyle. But here at Georgia Detours we are looking for those stories that expose viewers to parts of Geogia that aren't so well known. Brunswick is the gateway to the Golden Isles and from there we'll take you to some of the barrier islands that are far removed from the beaten path and have their own stories to tell.
Like Nashville, Athens Georgia has a strong musical history. Most people know the city as the home of the University of Georgia, but it's equally known for it's thriving artists community, vibrant downtown area, vinyl stores (yes, real records!) and music venues.
Downtown Atlanta has become a mecca for young people partially due to the growing presense of Georgia State University and the city has become know for it's artistic revitalization. On this episode of Georgia Detour we'll exerience street art and artists, the Krunk dance scene, and the annual Elevate street art festival.
TomorrowWorld is the event that first got us interested in EDM and the uniqe lifestyle sorrounding it. This international festival came to Atlanta and took hold. Although short-lived it provided the catalyst for ImagineFest and in this episode we take a look back at the event, the performers, fans, and the vendors.
